Editorial Review of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 bike
Kawasaki Ninja 300 was the logical upgrade for Kawasaki from the Ninja 250R. The predecessor was a success world over and even in India it sold in excellent numbers for Kawasaki. The Ninja 300 is one of the two products from Kawasaki that comes to India in the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) way and is assembled at Bajaj’s Chakan plant. The new motorcycle has everything going for it to make it one of the best bikes in its class. The new Ninja 300 brings excellent features and performance for an entry level sportbike.
The new Ninja 300 comes with 296cc parallel twin engine which has a compression ratio of 10.6:1 and produces 37PS of power and 27 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 6 speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The gearbox shifts gears smoothly and the slipper clutch prevents any kind of wheel hopping when downshifting from higher revs. The engine has been tuned for excellent rideability and offers ample low and mid range performance for pottering around the city with good top speed for those highway runs. The engine features Kawasaki’s positive neutral finder along with premium quality clutch with assist.
The bodywork is aggressively styled and it remains one of best looking bikes in the sportbike segment in the country. It is surely a step above in every way over its predecessor. The digital/analogue combination of the instrumentation is beautiful. It has a multi-function display which includes a speedometer, odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge and a digital clock. There is also a Economical riding indicator to help you get the most out of each liter for fuel being used up during your rides. The attractive instrument panel remains easy to read in the day and looks lovely at night. The design and styling is contemporary and so far the features on this motorcycle.
The riding position feels natural on this motorcycle. The controls are easily reached and those who are shorter can also easily balance this bike. It has a comfy seat which has sufficient padding to keep one comfortable on our poor quality roads. The motorcycle brings 10 spoke, 17 inch alloy wheels which not only look great but also contribute to excellent handling characteristics. The suspension and chassis is well sorted out enabling dynamic handling characteristics which makes you want to hit those twisities again and again. The high tensile semi-double cradle frame provides superior feel and agility while the suspension absorbs all the bad roads without breaking your back and on the good roads it lets you have all the fun you want to!
Ninja 300 is available at an ex-showroom New Delhi price of 3.5 Lakhs. For some the price may seem on the higher side but then again it currently has no competitor and although it could have been priced lower to improve its sales and appeal price-wise it has still found decent number of takers at this price point. It also comes with ABS as standard in India which makes it extremely worthwhile to own this bike as it improves the safety aspect of riding this bike. That combined with optional accessories available through Kawasaki it is certainly one of the best sport bikes in the market today.
